West Brom fitness update as Carlos Corberan reveals two small issues

As West Bromwich Albion gets ready to host Preston North End at The Hawthorns on the last day of the season—a win still needed if they want to secure a spot in the Championship play-offs—Carlos Corberan hasn’t exactly had a perfect week of uninterrupted full training with his players.

After Sheffield Wednesday gave Albion a devastating opening on a pivotal afternoon at Hillsborough last Saturday, the team has nursed its wounds. This was their third consecutive loss; it is the first such run in Corberan’s tenure, and it was also the most worthy of their three previous defeats.

Albion have, aside from long-term absentees Jayson Molumby and Daryl Dike, appeared pretty healthy in recent weeks, so much so that Corberan was forced to leave Pipa, Erik Pieters and Andi Weimann out of his squad last weekend amid an embarrassment of options. However, two players haven’t trained as consistently as they usually do this week.

According to Corberan, “the players might not always guarantee the same number of training sessions when you have a long week.” “Asante had a difficult start to the week. He was still experiencing some discomfort in his hamstring before to the last game. He continued to feel something during the minutes he was playing. Though he didn’t workout on the first day of this week, it’s a nerve, not muscle. He’s currently working out with the group as usual.

“He wasn’t prepared to start on the last day, but Wallace had to play at the front because of his outstanding performance against Leicester, in my opinion. However, he was not prepared to begin at that moment. We have also been managing Phillips as a player this season. We’ll see how he does, given the circumstances, when he gets here on Friday. The rest of the players have been working out regularly.”
