Virginia Tech football recruiting: Hokies pick up first in-state prospect for 2026
|Joshua Pittman commits to the Hokies.
It’s the time of the year when we should start seeing some football commitments. The Virginia Tech Hokies just completed their annual spring game on Saturday. And while the weather wasn’t great, several recruits were on campus to take in the atmosphere.
On Sunday, Virginia Tech’s 2026 recruiting class added its second commitment when kicker John Love made his pledge official. One day later, head coach Brent Pry added another to the 2026 class when Suffolk, Virginia, EDGE/linebacker Joshua Pittman committed to VT.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Pittman is a three-star prospect who plays at Kings Fork High School. He chose the Hokies over offers from Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Indiana, West Virginia, and others.
Pittman originally landed a scholarship offer last year and was on campus this spring. He will visit officially later this spring.
Pittman continues the Hokies’ recent trend under Pry of looking for length and athleticism from pass rushers, even if they are on the lighter side. Once he arrives in Blacksburg, Pittman’s body can easily add 30 pounds of muscle. His primary recruiter is Xavier Adibi, which is fitting. Adibi was once a prized linebacker prospect from the 757 before coming to Virginia Tech and becoming a linchpin for some of the best teams in school history.
Pittman joins York (Spartanburg, S.C.) and four-star wide receiver Carnell Warren (Bluffton, S.C.) in Virginia Tech’s 2026 class.
Welcome home, Joshua.
