Victor Lindelof could leave Manchester United within hours, Everton named Manchester United could sell Victor Lindelof before the transfer deadline with Everton interested, according to Alex Crook.

Speaking on the talkSPORT Transfer Notebook Podcast (31 January), Crook states the Toffees have looked at Lindelof during the winter transfer window as David Moyes seeks to strengthen his side. The 30-year-old is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and Crook argues that the Red Devils are likely to accept an offer if it arrives before the 3 February deadline.

Crook said: “They’d probably let Victor Lindelof go if someone came in between now and 11pm on Monday because he’s out of contract at the end of the season.

“I know Ruud van Nistelrooy has looked at him, Everton as well.”

Everton don’t need to push Victor Lindelof transfer
Although Lindelof is an experienced Premier League player and his current club is likely to sanction an exit, it does not mean that this is something the Toffees need to go for.

The Blues have been defensively solid throughout the season so far and it is going forward where they need to make additions to add more creativity and score more goals.

Furthermore, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja both having picked up injuries, the need for an attacking boost is even more pressing for Moyes.

Moyes has made no secret of his concerns over PSR regulations and being compliant to ensure no further points deductions at Goodison Park, so spending money on this wouldn’t make much sense.

It’s certainly something to keep an eye on ahead of the summer transfer window, especially if the 30-year-old will then be a free agent but for the time being, the Toffees need to focus their search.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are interested in signing a midfield gem from Sheffield United.

In other Everton news, the Toffees areEverton arrival Carlos Alcaraz is returning to England to “conquer the Premier League” after The Friedkin Group secured his signing, according to Diario AS.

The Brazilian website claimed (31 January) that Alcaraz was an “old target” for Everton in 2022 under the previous regime, before he arrived in the Premier League with Southampton, but the financial situation at Goodison Park put the brakes on any deal materialising. The Argentine midfielder stayed for a year on the South Coast before joining Juventus on loan and last summer moved to Flamengo, and has now been captured as the first winter signing under TFG and David Moyes.

Alcaraz will join the Toffees on loan until the end of the season (Eduardo Burgos, 1 February), a switch which will become permanent should certain conditions be met this term.

Everton make first move with Carlos Alcaraz
Everton may be in dire need of a striker but will not be turning down a loan-to-buy deal on a talented midfield player with a promising age profile who can provide excellent competition.

Alcaraz himself will be looking to potentially prove himself long-term in the Premier League having stayed for just a year in England previously, suffering relegation in the process.

Moyes has admitted PSR constraints are making it difficult for the Toffees to shop in the market they want, but the manager has been in the game long enough to – alongside the Goodison hierarchy – pull off another astute deal or two.

But in terms of incomings, Everton appear a far more attractive proposition with a project offered to them by a focused, ruthless ownership in TFG, and a manager in Moyes who can sell the identity and culture of the club as well as anyone.

In other Everton news, Bryan King believes Moyes is keen on snatching another Premier League club’s technical director to reunite with him at Goodison.

However, the Scotsman is well aware that if he wants to execute his mission this term, he will need more players available to him than he currently has.

After Orel Mangala picked up an injury that has ended his season, David Moyes is certainly in need of reinforcement in the midfield as he looks to save his side from the relegation drop this term.
