Samuel Montembeault hopes to help Ivan Demidov settle in

Montreal, QC — Samuel Montembeault, goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens, has expressed his enthusiasm for assisting fellow hockey player Ivan Demidov as the Russian prospect transitions to life in North America. Demidov, a highly-rated defenseman, recently signed with the Canadiens after an impressive run in the KHL. Montembeault, who has played in Montreal for several seasons, understands the challenges of adjusting to a new culture and team dynamics and is eager to offer support.

The Canadiens’ locker room is known for its tight-knit and supportive atmosphere, and Montembeault has been vocal about how he and his teammates are committed to helping Demidov feel comfortable and at home. The language barrier, new systems, and adjusting to the fast pace of the NHL can be overwhelming for any newcomer, and Montembeault has shared that he will personally take the time to guide Demidov through the process.

“I remember when I first came to Montreal, it was a big change,” said Montembeault in a recent interview. “Ivan has a lot of potential, and I think it’s important to make him feel welcome. I’m going to help him with anything I can, whether it’s off the ice or on it. It’s all about making sure he has everything he needs to succeed.”

Montembeault has already taken steps to connect with Demidov outside of team practices. From recommending local restaurants to helping him navigate the city’s public transport system, Montembeault has been there for the young defenseman. The duo is also reportedly working closely together during on-ice practices, with Montembeault providing advice on defensive positioning and playing in the North American style of hockey.

As Demidov prepares for his NHL debut, the guidance of veterans like Montembeault could prove invaluable in smoothing out his transition. The Canadiens organization has always emphasized the importance of mentorship, and with a player of Montembeault’s experience offering his support, the team is hopeful Demidov’s adjustment to the league will be as seamless as possible.
