Wout van Aert, the renowned Belgian cyclist, has often emphasized the importance of family in his career decisions. In July 2023, during the Tour de France, he chose to leave the race to be with his wife, Sarah, as they anticipated the birth of their second child. 

In a 2024 interview, Sarah de Bie revealed that a medical oversight following Wout’s 2019 Tour de France crash nearly ended his cycling career. She recounted how doctors initially failed to detect a detached tendon in his upper leg, which, if left untreated, could have prevented him from cycling again. 

More recently, in November 2024, Wout and Sarah were spotted training together in Spain. Wout shared on Strava that he enjoyed a run with his wife after a cycling session, highlighting their shared commitment to fitness and mutual support. 

These instances underscore the strong bond between Wout van Aert and his wife, Sarah, illustrating how their relationship plays a pivotal role in his personal and professional life.
