HERE WE GO: Rangers told to sack Clement immediately after what he did in shock Queens Park defeat

Rangers told to sack Clement immediately after what he did in shock Queens Park defeat.UK
Rangers have been told to sack Philippe Clement immediately after one decision he made during the shock Scottish Cup defeat to Championship side Queens Park on Sunday.

The Gers were dumped out in round five after a stunning 1-0 defeat to the Championship side in front of a shocked Ibrox (9 February).

Seb Drozd was the unlikely hero for the second-tier side, firing low into the Rangers goal with a little over 20 minutes remaining of the fourth-round tie.

The Light Blues were well below par in the second half having failed to make the most of several opportunities in an opening period where they had the majority of the ball.

Even when they had a last-gasp penalty awarded, James Tavernier saw his penalty saved by visiting goalkeeper Calum Ferrie.

But Herald journalist Mark McDougall was aghast at one decision Clement made during the game, one that he says should be worthy of instance dismissal.

Clement makes bizarre Ianis Hagi decision as Queens Park shock Rangers
The Belgian was watching his side completely toil in an awful second-half performance having made five changes to his Rangers side but for some reason opted to take off one of his most creative players in Ianis Hagi.

What was even more perplexing was the fact he decided to stick on Ridvan Yilmaz, a left-back, in his place, something that McDougall fuming with a post of X.

“Just remember that Philippe Clement took Rangers most creative player off for a left back while chasing a goal,” he wrote.

“Even if there’s somehow a comeback he should be sacked after this.”

Clement has no way back at Rangers
Surely, surely this is the end of Clement at Rangers, there is simply no excusing this absolutely astounding result.

Already 13 points behind rivals Celtic in an abysmal Scottish Premiership campaign, the Scottish Cup represented the best chance of silverware in the second half of the season having already lost to the Bhoys on penalties in the Scottish League Cup final.

Yes, of course, Rangers are still in the Europa League and their performances have been the one saving grace in a dismal campaign.

But the reality is glory in Europe still feels miles away, especially on the basis of this complete utter abject humiliation.

And that means there is surely no way back for Clement now, you simply cannot forgive a performance like this when it represents such a glorious chance of winning a trophy this season.

The messages out of the club have consistently been that Clement is the man for the long term. But you simply cannot allow a defeat like this to occur without some sort of repercussions. It’s time to go.

Jefte has howler, Tavernier woeful – Rangers playing ratings v Queen’s Park

Rangers have crashed out of the Scottish Cup as were stunned 1-0 by Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup.

The Gers dominated proceedings in the first half and were certainly the side who were on top. However, they were woeful after the break and Seb Drozd stunned the Ibrox crowd with a little over 20 minutes to play.

It was poor defending from the Gers, who had a last-gasp lifeline when Cyriel Dessers went down in the box under a challenge from Adam Montgomery but James Tavernier saw his penalty save in incredible late drama.

Philippe Clement will have no doubt be left questioning what his future holds now.

Ibrox News have rated each player’s performance out of 10.

Rangers out of the Scottish Cup
Liam Kelly – 4

The goalkeeper had nothing to do in the first half but he will be disappointed with the goal he conceded that went through his legs. The defence let him down but he certainly would’ve hoped to do better too.

For a player that was being linked to a move to Chelsea in the winter transfer window, the defending from Jefte was well below expectation for the goal that Queen’s Park scored. The full-back was caught out for some terrible defending in that time.

Rangers ace Jefte

Jefte joined Rangers in the summer
Robin Propper – 4

Propper put in a good shift throughout the majority of the game and although he didn’t have the most to do throughout the 90 minutes, when needed, he was not able to deliver what his side needed from him.

Rafael Fernandes (off for John Souttar, 60′) – 5

On his debut for the Gers, Rafael Fernandes didn’t have too much to do. It was hard to judge him too much off this performance but the word average certainly comes to mind based on the 60 minutes he played.

Of all the defenders, Tavernier was probably the most unlucky when Queen’s Park scored but for the captain who is an experienced player, you would certainly have expected better throughout the afternoon. With the final kick of the game, Tavernier had a chance to equal the scores through a penalty but a poor strike meant his penalty was easily saved.

Bailey Rice (off for Nicolas Raskin, 45′) – 5

It does feel a little bit harsh that Philippe Clement withdrew the youngster at half-time on his debut. You can understand that the Gers needed a bit more strength in the side for the second half however, Bailey Rice looked solid on the day and he should be pleased with his first performance.

Mohamed Diomande (off for Tom Lawrence,

Mohamed Diomande had plenty of opportunities throughout the afternoon to put his side ahead but he simply did not do enough on the afternoon to make it count. This is especially disappointing given how much his side were on top in the first half of the game.

Ianis Hagi the stand out on a poor afternoon
Ianis Hagi (off for Ridvan Yilmaz, 60′)

Ianis Hagi had some good chances throughout the game and showed some life at the top end of the pitch, particularly in the first half. It was a bit confusing to see Clement opt to remove him as his side chased a goal.

Nedim Bajrami (off for Cyriel Dessers, 4

The boss wanted to make a couple of changes at half-time and Bajrami felt the effects of that. The 25-year-old had a very close chance just before half-time but he failed to do enough for his side’s efforts.

Vaclav Cerny had one of the best opportunities to score in the first half so he will certainly be disappointed that he failed to do so. However, he did not do enough on the afternoon to stand out.

Although Hamza Igamane has been a star player for the Light Blues this season, he did not do enough for his side in the Scottish Cup. The forward did have chances in the first half but nothing came of them. His energy stepped up when the Gers went 1-0 down but it was too little, too late.

Cyriel Dessers had to come on at half-time given Clement knew his side were in definite need of a goal. However, the 30-year-old had two big chances, one of which he sent above the bar and the other he could not get past the opposition goalkeeper.

Nicolas Raskin (on for Bailey Rice, 45′) – 4

Another man who did not have the desired impact when he came on. Raskin had a chance to make the scores equal in the final 10 minutes of the game but it was a poorly timed shot that went over the bar.

Ridvan Yilmaz (on for Ianis Hagi, 60′) – 6

Yilmaz delivered a fairly competent performance once coming on as a substitution and was getting himself about on the pitch. However, he was not able to affect the final result of the game.

John Souttar (on for Rafael Fernandes, 60′) – 4

It was confusing to see the Rangers boss make defensive substitutions as his side were seeking a goal in the game and what’s more, disappointing defending from experienced players like Souttar were not able to make a positive difference to the game.

Tom Lawrence (Mohamed Diomand, 86′) – N/A
