Everton made an offer to sign Evan Ferguson before Brighton agreed to send him on loan to West Ham United, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via Verdict on print (3 February, page 10) that Ferguson is moving to the London Stadium despite receiving proposals from the Toffees, as well as Chelsea.finalising a six-month loan transfer to the Irons, who are covering the entirety of his wages and paying the Seagulls a fee plus performance bonuses.

Everton miss out on Evan Ferguson at Goodison Park
David Moyes is in need of firepower up front following the injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja.

The situation has also put Beto’s proposed transfer to Italy in jeopardy, with Everton not in a position to sanction an exit without strengthening the position first.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES.There is no doubt that Ferguson would have been a solid addition to Moyes’ squad, although he has only accrued 237 minutes of Premier League action this season.

However, that ship has sailed with West Ham all set to announce his signing before the transfer window closes on Monday (3 February) evening. The former Southampton midfielder is set to join Everton on loan, although the move will become permanent once certain objectives are met.It would not be a surprise if Moyes looked to add at least another player to his ranks before the window slams shut.

In other Everton news, Richard Keys has hit out at Andy Gray for what he did to one Toffees player.

Everton are trying to sign a striker before the transfer deadline, according to the Daily Mirror.

The report claimed on 3 February that Carlos Alcaraz is set to complete his loan move from Flamengo on deadline day.

It also states that an attacker is on the agenda before the window shuts at 11:00 pm as David Moyes looks to strengthen his side.

The Blues have eased their relegation worries in recent weeks with three successive Premier League wins, but only have Beto currently available.

Everton need a forward before the deadline
If the Toffees are to avoid relegation they need to add firepower to their squad before the deadline comes around.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto have underwhelmed, with just six Premier League strikes between them so far this campaign.

The Blues are nine points clear of the drop zone as a result of a tremendous upturn in form under the Scot which has seen them beat Brighton, Tottenham, and Leicester.

However, if they do not bring in a goalscorer they could be dragged right back into a survival battle with only Ipswich and Southampton scoring less in the top flight.

Any incoming probably depends on Armando Broja’s future and whether Chelsea allows the loan to be terminated after his constant injury issues.

If Moyes’s side can come to a deal with the Stamford Bridge side, it may open the door for a new attacker to come to Goodison Park on loan.

In other Everton news, Tony Bellew was furious with a “disgrace” he saw during the win over Leicester.
