The three winners from the above-mentioned events all gained places on the ATP rankings. Tommy Paul won his third title of the season, winning the Stockholm Open with a dominant 6-4, 6-3 win over Grigor Dimitrov in the final. This win saw the 27-year-old earn 160 points and move from 13th to 12th, earning his career-best ranking so far.
Even though Dimitrov lost in the final, he earned 155 points to swap places with Alex de Mianur and move to the ninth position while pushing the Australian down to tenth.
Roberto Bautista Agut was another winner last week, as the Spaniard won his 12th career title at the European Open, with a splendid 7-5, 6-1 win over Jiri Lehecka in the final. The win gave the former World No. 9 240 points, helping him move 15 positions on the rankings, from 60th to 45th.
The third winner from last week was Karen Khachanov, who won the Almaty Open, with a hard-fought 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 win over Gabriel Diallo in the final. The win helped the Russian player earn 240 points, moving him to two positions on the ATP Rankings, from 26th to 24th.
Barring the swap between Dimitrov and De Minaur, the rest of the top 10 saw no changes last week with Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz and Casper Ruud occupying the top 8 positions.
With the ATP Finals closing in, more changes can be seen in the ATP rankings
Top players are all jockeying for positions to enter the ATP finals in Turin next month by accumulating as many points as possible in the remaining tournaments. This gives the player to improve their positions on the ATP rankings as well.
Tommy Paul who is currently ranked 12th is 355 points adrift from Alex de Minaur (10th on the rankings). Paul is slated to play at the ATP 500 event in Vienna, where he is the fourth seed. Should the American player make a deep run in the event or win it, there is a possibility he might break into the top 10 for the first time.
Another player who is on the periphery of breaking into the top 10 once again is Stefanos Tistispas. The Greek who was once ranked as high as World No. 3, has fallen out of the top 10 due to his recent poor performances. However, currently being on 11th in the rankings, he is only 165 points away from breaking into the top 10.
Tsitsipas is slated to play in the ATP 500 event at the Swiss Indoors event, where he can make a play for both the ATP rankings as well as the ATP finals.
