GOOD NEWS LSU Women’s Basketball Coach Kim Mulkey Inducted into Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame

Kim Mulkey, the head coach of the LSU women’s basketball team, has solidified her reputation as one of the premier coaches in the sport through a series of remarkable achievements. In 2021, she was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, becoming the first individual to win a national championship as a player, assistant coach, and head coach.

In her inaugural season at LSU, Mulkey orchestrated a significant turnaround, leading the Tigers to 26 victories—a 17-win improvement from the previous year—and earning her third Associated Press Coach of the Year award.

By December 2023, Mulkey became the fastest coach in college basketball history to reach 700 career wins, achieving this milestone in just 813 games following LSU’s 82-64 victory over Virginia Tech.

In February 2025, Mulkey was honored with the Naismith Coach of the Year award, further cementing her legacy in collegiate basketball.

These accolades underscore Mulkey’s exceptional leadership and her profound impact on women’s basketball, both in the United States and internationally.
