GOOD NEWS It’s been the best decision of my life’: Davion Mintz reflects on returning to Florida Gators during senior night celebration
|The Florida Gators have recently seen several key players return from injuries, bolstering their athletic programs:
• Micah Handlogten: The 7-foot-1 junior center made his comeback to the men’s basketball team on February 14, 2025, after recovering from a broken leg sustained in the previous season’s Southeastern Conference championship. Initially planning to redshirt, Handlogten chose to forgo this option and played in the home game against South Carolina. His return was timely, given injuries to other players in the team’s frontcourt.
• Alex Condon: The starting post player for the men’s basketball team returned from an ankle injury and played a pivotal role in propelling the Gators to the Elite Eight. His performance underscored his value to the team’s success.
• Walter Clayton Jr.: After a prior injury, Clayton Jr. returned to action and led the No. 6 Florida men’s basketball team to a 90-81 victory over No. 1 Auburn on February 8, 2025. He contributed 19 points and nine assists, showcasing his importance to the team’s performance.
• Olivier Rioux: Despite being the world’s tallest teenager at 7-foot-9, Rioux has been redshirting this season and did not participate in March Madness. However, his presence continues to draw attention, and he is expected to make a significant impact in future seasons.
• Caleb Banks: The defensive tackle returned to Florida after entering the transfer portal. Banks, who started 11 of 12 games in 2023, is anticipated to continue his role as a starter in the 2024 season.
These returns have provided a substantial boost to the Florida Gators, enhancing their competitiveness across various sports.
