Aberdeen are ready to activate Adama Sidibeh’s £500,000 release clause, sources have told Football Insider.

The Dons intend to do that before St Johnstone’s second-round Scottish League Cup match this weekend.

Craig Levein’s team will take on Rangers at Hampden Park on Saturday, and Aberdeen are keen to snare their rivals’ prize asset as they look to replace Bojan Miovski.

A host of clubs, including Sheffield United and Queens Park Rangers are expected to watch Sidibeh against Rangers as they weigh up a move for the pacy forward before the close of the transfer window

.St Johnstone are aware of the growing interest in the 26-year-old, but they would be powerless to keep him if his release clause is activated.

The striker enhanced his growing reputation with a superb double for St Johnstone in their win over Kilmarnock last weekend, making it nine goals in 14 starts since he joined the club from non-league side Rylands in January.
