Former Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball star Merritt Beason has officially accepted her first coaching position..

After finishing her career with back-to-back appearances in the Final Four after transferring to Nebraska, Merritt Beason will embark on beginning her own coaching career at a familiar place

 

Gardendale (Ala.) High School announced on social media that Beason, a graduate in 2020, is returning to take over the head coach position.

At Nebraska Beason was an All-Big Ten First Team player each of her two seasons in Lincoln. Beason also earned American Coaches Volleyball Association All-Region honors both seasons as well.

 

A versatile player at outside hitter, Beason finished 2024 with an average of 2,78 kills per set on a .233 hitting percentage while serving up 30 aces on the season.
