DEAL CLOSED Rangers have today agreed to sign a Chelsea player for over £55million, ahead of the deal being announced and confirmed on deadline day
|Rangers want to sign Chelsea defender Aaron Anselmino before the deadline, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.
The newspaper reports in its print edition (page 59, 3 February) that the 19-year-old is on Philippe Clement’s radar ahead of the 11:00 pm deadline.

However, they face competition from French side Marseille who have agreed on a deal with the Blues [Fabrizio Romano] but the Bears could hijack the move.
Rangers need reinforcements before the deadline
The Light Blues have only made one signing so far in the winter transfer window, a loan for Lille defender Rafael Fernandes that could turn into a permanent deal in the summer.
Clement needs more reinforcements if he is to have any chance of bridging a ten-point gap with arch-rivals Celtic and taking his side on a deep Europa League run.
The Gers have Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Dujon Sterling sidelined with injury at the moment which forced James Tavernier into a makeshift centre-back role in the 2-1 win over Union Saint-Gilloise.

Any more defensive injuries could send the Bears into a crisis, so they need cover before the deadline comes around.
They could also do with attacking reinforcements and hold an interest in former Liverpool star Bobby Clark, who has struggled for game time at Red Bull Salzburg.
It could be an interesting deadline day for Gers supporters if the club can get moves completed before the transfer market slams shut.
In other Rangers news, the club could collapse if they let one of their stars leave before the deadline.

Ridvan Yilmaz makes shock U-turn as £4.2m transfer news emerges at Rangers
Ridvan Yilmaz is ready to leave Rangers to join Besiktas before the transfer window closes, according to Firat Gunayer.
The Turkish journalist revealed via his Rabona YouTube channel (2 February) that Besiktas president Serdan Adali has convinced Yilmaz of the transfer despite the left-back initially stating that he does not want to return to Turkiye.
However, the Light Blues will only let the 23-year-old leave on loan if the Super Lig giants agree to make the move permanent for around £3.75-4.2million, thus making it the “biggest” problem for his suitors.
Adali is not prepared to pay as high as £4.2m for Yilmaz and is, therefore, waiting to see if the Glasgow outfit will ease their stance.
Philippe Clement to sanction Ridvan Yilmaz exit at Rangers?
It is unclear if Philippe Clement will allow Yilmaz to leave, especially this late in the window.
However, the Gers may be willing to do business with Besiktas if the finances are right for them as they insist on a mandatory buy clause at £3.75-4.2m.
It is worth noting that the Premiership heavyweights signed the Turkiye international for £3.4m in the summer of 2022 [Sky Sports].
