Colts Mock Draft Roundup: Four Names, Only One Tight End

With just 12 days remaining until the 2025 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts continue to keep fans and analysts guessing about their first-round intentions. While tight end remains the most popular prediction for the Coltsā€™ No. 14 overall pick, recent mock drafts are beginning to explore a broader range of possibilitiesā€”particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

This weekā€™s Mock Draft Roundup highlights four different prospects linked to the Colts, including just one tight end and three defensive players.

CB Will Johnson, Michigan
Nate Tice of Yahoo! Sports projects the Colts to target Michigan standout Will Johnson. Despite the recent addition of Charvarius Ward in free agency, Indianapolis may not be done bolstering its cornerback depth. Tice writes, ā€œDrafting Johnson here would be a huge get for the Colts. He has true No. 1 cornerback upside and would turn a glaring roster weakness into a position of strength for new defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.ā€

TE Colston Loveland, Michigan
ESPNā€™s Mel Kiper Jr. continues to champion tight end Colston Loveland as the best fit for Indianapolis in Round 1. After a dismal 2024 campaign from the position groupā€”just 39 receptions, 467 yards, and two touchdownsā€”the need for an impact tight end is pressing. The Colts have lost Kylen Granson to the Eagles and have yet to re-sign Mo Alie-Cox. Lovelandā€™s 6-foot-6 frame and ability to stretch the field make him a dangerous red zone threat. Kiper notes that selecting Loveland at No. 14 would offer strong value, ranking him 11th on his overall draft board.

In Kiperā€™s two-round mock, the Colts double down in the trenches with Arizona interior lineman Jonah Savaiinaea in Round 2.

DT Walter Nolen, Ole Miss
Josh Edwards of CBS Sports points to Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen as a logical choice, citing Indianapolisā€™ aging and injury-prone interior defensive line. Nolen brings disruptive potential as a 3-technique, projected to pair well with edge rusher Laiatu Latu in forming a new defensive core.

LB/EDGE Jalon Walker, Georgia
Another name gaining traction is Georgiaā€™s Jalon Walker. In a full seven-round mock, CBS Sportsā€™ Chris Trapasso sees the Colts adding a dynamic, hybrid linebacker-edge rusher to strengthen their front seven. Walker would provide a spark for a defense looking to become faster and more aggressive.

Trapassoā€™s mock also includes tight end Mason Taylor (LSU) in Round 2, with offensive line and quarterback depth coming in later roundsā€”highlighted by a potential swing at Texas QB Quinn Ewers in Round 5.

With the clock ticking, the Colts’ draft board appears wide open.
