Breaking News:Everton Stadium: Former Executive Reveals New ‘Big Hurdle’ in Development

Everton’s former manager Keith Wyness has said that cash flow concerns and the 777 Partners court action are “hurdles” in the club’s new stadium plans.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now operates a football consultancy advising elite clubs, suggested that roughly £30 million in payments will be owed to builders Laing O’Rourke.

Everton began construction on the new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock in 2021, with the team slated to relocate into the new facility before the 2025-26 season. The development was originally estimated to cost roughly £500 million, but is now predicted to cost more than £800 million.

The Toffees have been plunged into turmoil once more since The Friedkin Group pulled out of a buyout last month, following 777 Partners’ withdrawal in June.

Everton still face ‘hurdles’ as 100-day stadium countdown begins, says Wyness

Wyness alleged that the continuing legal battle between 777 and financiers Leadenhall in New York could possibly jeopardize the stadium project.
