BREAKING NEWS:Bayern Munich set to complete swoop for Köln keeper Jonas Urbig

Bayern Munich is reportedly nearing the acquisition of 21-year-old goalkeeper Jonas Urbig from FC Köln. According to Sport Bild, the transfer fee is expected to be between €7-8 million, potentially rising to €10 million with add-ons. Urbig has agreed to personal terms and expressed a desire to join Bayern immediately, making the upcoming game against Elversberg possibly his last for Köln.

This move indicates Bayern’s intention to groom Urbig as a potential successor to Manuel Neuer, rather than merely as a backup. The transfer raises questions about the future roles of current Bayern goalkeepers Daniel Peretz, Sven Ulreich, and Alexander Nübel. Peretz has declined multiple offers to leave Bayern, opting to stay and compete for his spot.

Negotiations between Bayern and Köln have been ongoing, with Bayern’s initial offers being rejected. However, recent reports suggest that the clubs are close to finalizing the deal.
