Although it hasn’t worked out for the La Plata-born midfielder at the Maracana, he does have experience of playing in England and he did do well at Southampton before he left last year.
Juventus also saw enough in the ex-Racing Club ace to sign him on loan in January 2024. They also agreed a huge option-to-buy clause worth around £41million even though he had been playing in the Championship at that point.

One of those came at the start of this season when the midfielder played in a defeat against Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Despite the fact he’s played for Southampton and Flamengo in this British season doesn’t seem to have an impact on the deal because the Brazilian season finished at the end of last year.

Flamengo boss Filipe Luis has revealed Carlos Alcaraz requested to be sold to Everton in the winter transfer window.
As per Liverpool Echo journalist Chris Beesley (3 February), the Argentine midfielder has formalised his move to Goodison Park and will be officially unveiled on Deadline Day.
However, contrary to reports suggesting Flamengo forced Alcaraz out of the club, Luis revealed to Brazilian news outlet Gazeta do Urubu (3 February) that he informed the player he would have a place in his first-team plans, but he pushed for a move to Merseyside instead.
Carlos Alcaraz wants to sign for Everton
In reality, it doesn’t matter whose decision the transfer to proceed was – David Moyes will have his first signing at Everton.
The 22-year-old is an exciting addition for the Blues and will fill the void left by Orel Mangala, who will spend the remainder of the campaign on the sidelines.

During his spell on the South Coast, Alcaraz proved to be a consistent performer for a struggling Southampton side, notching four goals and two assists in 18 Premier League appearances.
He left St Mary’s after becoming disgruntled in the Championship, and the signing appears to be in the same vein as Iliman Ndiaye’s arrival in the summer, as Alcaraz returns to England with a point to prove.
Nevertheless, he is likely not to be the only addition on Merseyside before the 11pm deadline on Monday (3 February) as sources told Goodison News that discussions for further incomings are underway at the Toffees.

Moyes has performed a phenomenal job thus far in his second stint at Everton. With three Premier League wins in his opening four outings, he is making the decision to sack Sean Dyche look shrewd.
Therefore, it remains imperative that The Friedkin Group leaves the squad in the best possible position for David Moyes to enjoy a successful end to the season.
Evertonians will want to keep an eagle eye on developments at Goodison Park throughout Deadline Day.
In other Everton news, a Serie A club could make a last-ditch bid for a Blues ace.
