Late in the fourth quarter, with the Raiders trailing 26-19, Minshew was sacked and landed hard on his left shoulder, leading to the injury. He concluded his season with 2,013 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and ten interceptions. In his absence, backup quarterback Desmond Ridder stepped in but faced challenges, including a critical fumble shortly after taking over.

Compounding the team’s difficulties, rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who had previously replaced Minshew, sustained a fractured thumb in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams.
