Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will have the chance to procure some assistance ahead of this summer’s Club World Cup.

The DFL, Germany’s football governing agency, has granted an additional transfer window, which will run from June 1st through June 10th and give the clubs a chance to register players for the Club World Cup competition (SID via @iMiaSanMia).

This could be a massive boost to Bayern Munich, which has been ravaged by injuries on its backline. Alphonso Davies will miss the Club World Cup, while the respectives statuses of Dayot Upamecano and Hiroki Itō are at least somewhat in doubt because of the injuries they have sustained in the last week:

The DFL has agreed to introduce an additional transfer window from June 1 to 10 so Bayern and Dortmund can register players for the Club World Cup

“FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund will be given the opportunity to register potential new signings for the 2025/26 season – especially those returning from loan – early after the end of the 2024/25 season, so that they are also eligible to play in the Club World Cup,” the DFL told SID

There will be no changes on the regular summer transfer window (July 1st to September 1st)

Bayern Munich will have to expedite its squad planning to see what it will need. Aside of defenders, the club is rumored to want a back-up striker and another winger. Can board member for sport Max Eberl and company get that much work done in 10 days?

We shall see…
