Leeds United made an approach to Nordsjælland for their left-back Daniel Svensson during the January window, but he instead headed to Borussia Dortmund.
Leeds opted to sit quiet in the January window and wait for any eye-catching transfer opportunities to come their way, ending up bringing in no new signings when the deadline passed.
Five straight league wins in February, including four goals from defenders since the deadline shut, means Farke’s stance on adding competition in certain positions might have been justified.

Links emerged to Swedish left-back Daniel Svensson in the January window, and sources close to the player at the time revealed to LeedsAllOver that the club had indeed tabled an offer for him.
Having just turned 23, Svensson has been tipped for a bright future and a move out of the Danish top flight, which he secured when Borussia Dortmund came in on February 3 – the day of the UK deadline.
He joined the German giants on an initial loan deal with an option to make it permanent in the summer, potentially costing a fee of €7million (£5.8million):

The defender has since spoken to German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten about his move to the Bundesliga, in which he confirmed that there was an opportunity to go to clubs other than Dortmund:
“It’s true, there was interest from other clubs,” the left-back responded. “But, when things got concrete with Borussia Dortmund, I just wanted to come here.
“It’s a very big club, one of the biggest teams in Germany. When I was offered the chance to play here, I absolutely wanted to do it. I was just waiting for the opportunity to leave. And when I got it, I had to act quickly.
“I don’t know yet what will happen in the summer. I’m just concentrating on what I can influence and just trying to give my best performance. Then, it’s up to those in charge to decide. But I’ve made a good start and I really like it here.”
Junior Firpo form should tide Leeds over until the summer
Leeds need to be planning long-term for their left-back position, given Junior Firpo could be leaving in the summer when his contract expires.
Svensson would have been a very good signing in that regard and wouldn’t have cost much either, but for now, Firpo is doing the job for Leeds.
Since we broke the news of Leeds making an approach to sign Svensson, Firpo has been in his best ever form – he’s scored twice and assisted five times since returning from injury.
