Everton were restricted in what they could do in the January transfer window.
The Toffees are still having to operate really shrewdly to ensure they don’t breach PSR having done so in the past.
As such, Everton only signed one player last month with Carlos Alcaraz joining on an initial loan deal from Flamengo.
If certain clauses are met, Alcaraz will join on a permanent deal for around £15m and at this stage, he’s certainly impressing enough to warrant that.
Aside from the Argentinian’s arrival, Everton’s only other activity was a loan departure, with Harrison Armstrong leaving for Derby County.
However, there was a lot of speculation around Beto’s future and now there’s been a further update on that situation.

Torino made multiple bids to sign Beto during the January transfer window as they hoped to bring the Everton frontman back to Serie A.
In fact, Beto told Moyes he wanted to leave as he was unhappy at his lack of game time since joining from Udinese in 2023.

However, after injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja, Everton took the decision to keep Beto and remove their £16m price tag.
That’s certainly paid off for the Toffees as he’s now in prolific form, netting four times in his last three outings.
With that said, according to TifoGranata, Torino are now really regretting their failed attempts to sign Beto.
They believe had Calvert-Lewin not picked up an injury, Beto would have signed for the Turin-based club on deadline day.
The Italian club are now in dire form and are left ruing the missed opportunity.
Beto finally repaying his £30m transfer fee
Sean Dyche started Beto just once in the Premier League before Moyes’ arrival but now, after a couple of injuries, he’s become Moyes’ main man.
It seems all he needed was some trust and he’s certainly now repaying the £30m Everton paid Udinese for him in 2023.
Troy Deeney named Beto in the Team of the Week after his brilliant performance against Crystal Palace on the weekend.
