Curtis Jones is “fit and available” for Liverpool’s crucial Premier League clash with Everton, according to reliable journalist Lewis Steele.
The Reds face an enormous game on Wednesday evening, heading to Goodison Park one final time, as their rivals look to dent their title hopes.
Arne Slot’s men know that victory over Everton will take them nine points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table, as they finally get their game in hand out of the way.
Heading into the match, Liverpool don’t have too many injury concerns, but Joe Gomez is a definite absentee.
Writing on X, however, Steele said that Jones is in contention to face Everton, having returned to full fitness after not being risked in the 1-0 defeat away to Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup last weekend:

“Curtis Jones will be fit and available for selection in the Merseyside Derby after the Liverpool midfielder felt some discomfort (relating to recent injury) and had to be left on the subs bench at Plymouth. Joe Gomez the only certain absentee.”
Jones likely to start on the bench
Having Jones fit is an undoubted boost, with the boyhood Liverpool fan maturing into such a reliable squad player these days, battling some world-class players for minutes.
That said, it would be a big surprise if the 23-year-old started at Goodison on Wednesday, with Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai the go-to trio in midfield.
They are arguably the most balanced and complete midfield unit in Europe currently, playing a big part in Liverpool sitting clear at the top of the league table, as well as topping the Champions League group last month.
That’s not to say that Jones can’t still have an impact against Everton, however, with his ball retention and technic ability potentially key in the second half, especially if Liverpool are holding onto a lead.
The Englishman has completed 94.6% of his passes in the league so far this season, highlighting his press resistance in the middle of the park, and his influence may be needed from the bench, in a Merseyside derby that he fully knows the importance of.
