However, they are likely to face stiff competition from a variety of English sides, and Shankland may wish to remain in his home country rather than try his luck in the Premier League or Premier League south of the border.

Rodgers could boost Kyōgo Furuhashi’s season at Parkhead by signing the Hearts captain, who could play alongside him to ease the burden in the final third.

Kyogo has not been able to reproduce the impressive form he showed in front of goal for Ange Postecoglou in the Premiership in the 2022/23 season.
