Exodus Releases 40th Anniversary Edition of ‘Bonded by Blood’

Exodus, the legendary thrash metal pioneers, are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their debut album Bonded by Blood with a special edition release. Widely regarded as one of the most influential albums in thrash metal history, Bonded by Blood has been remastered and reissued with a treasure trove of bonus content, including rare demos, live recordings, and previously unreleased tracks from the early days of the band.

Released in 1985, Bonded by Blood solidified Exodus’ place in the Big Eight of thrash metal, alongside bands like Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. The album’s blistering pace, aggressive riffs, and raw energy helped define the genre and inspired countless metal bands in the decades that followed. Tracks like “A Lesson in Violence,” “Piranha,” and the title track remain fan favorites and staples in the band’s live performances.

To commemorate the milestone, Exodus has included a comprehensive booklet featuring rare photos, behind-the-scenes stories from the recording process, and exclusive interviews with the band members. Fans will also find commentary from prominent musicians influenced by the album, highlighting its lasting impact on the metal scene.

In addition to the deluxe reissue, Exodus is planning a series of live performances where they will play Bonded by Blood in its entirety. These shows are set to begin later this year, offering fans a unique opportunity to experience the groundbreaking album in a live setting.

Speaking about the anniversary, guitarist Gary Holt said, “Bonded by Blood was a defining moment for us and for thrash metal as a whole. This reissue is a celebration of everything it stands for, and we can’t wait to share it with our fans.”
