Brisbane Broncos Secure Star Player with Contract Extension Until 2028
Another season is in the books with Penrith romping to an incredible fourth consecutive premiership.
But while the NRL action may be done for the year out on the field, that doesn’t mean that there won’t still be plenty bubbling away behind the scenes at every club.
A host of big-name players are set to come off-contract in 2025, meaning they hit the open market on November 1.
Ryan Papenhuyzen and James Tedesco were two of the stars on the list, but have since earned extensions at their current clubs.

Broncos contract news:
Reece Walsh was the headline name due to come off-contract at the end of the 2025 season, but the Broncos have managed to stop him from hitting the open market with the fullback agreeing to a four-year extension.
Xavier Willison has agreed to fresh terms despite rumoured interest from a number of rival clubs. The emerging prop will remain at Red Hill until at least the end of the 2027 campaign.
Selwyn Cobbo is a key priority with the centre to attract major interest from a host of rivals as he hits the open market.
Martin Taupau has signed a one-year extension, keeping him at the club until the end of 2025.
Kotoni Staggs is reportedly keen to remain at Red Hill although the club may struggle to fit him under the cap.
Tristan Sailor has been granted an early release from his deal to move to St Helens on a two-year deal.
Tyson Smoothy has reportedly been told he is free to look elsewhere following a disappointing 2024 campaign for the club.

The Raiders have locked down a vast majority of their playing roster long-term but there are still some pieces to attend to.
Kaeo Weekes was rewarded for a stellar first season in the nation’s capital with a two-year extension which will take him through until at least the end of the 2027 campaign. Xavier Savage has also committed through to 2027.
Danny Levi has reportedly been informed he is free to pursue opportunities elsewhere, while Hohepa Puru has joined Cronulla.
Josh Papalii has taken up the option in his deal for 2025 to remain as a one-club player at the Raiders.
