Coach fired: Elena Rybakina cuts ties over poisonous relationship

Elena Rybakina, the former Wimbledon champion, dismissed her coach of five years, Stefano Vukov, just three days before the 2024 U.S. Open, citing a “vicious” cycle of verbal abuse, according to Russian journalist Sofya Tartakova on the Tennis Bolshei YouTube channel.

Currently ranked No. 4 in the world, Rybakina withdrew from the U.S. Open in August due to a back injury after winning her first-round match against Australia’s Destanee Aiava. Tartakova noted that Rybakina is dealing with significant pressures stemming from her relationship with Vukov.
