Swiatek’s shocking silence: Tennis legend sound Alarm over absence

Iga Swiatek, recognized as one of the top players in the world, is currently facing some challenges. The world number one, who last competed at the US Open, has withdrawn from the China Open, criticizing the WTA for its poor match scheduling. Although she might return soon, some, including former Serena Williams coach Rennae Stubbs, believe her season could be over.

In her podcast, The Rennae Stubbs Show, Stubbs expressed concerns about Swiatek’s situation, suggesting that her absence might signal the end of her season. Swiatek mentioned personal reasons for skipping the China Open, expressing regret over missing the tournament where she previously triumphed.

Her withdrawal poses a risk as her main competitor, Aryna Sabalenka, has the opportunity to narrow the points gap. Swiatek will forfeit 1,000 points but will still lead with 9,885 points compared to Sabalenka’s 8,716.

Despite the uncertainties, there’s positive news for her fans: Swiatek’s return is confirmed. Her manager, Paula Wolecka, stated that she plans to participate in the Wuhan tournament from October 7 to 13, marking her first break from competition since September 5. This hiatus is unprecedented in her career, and while she remains a strong contender in tennis history, challenges remain.
