NEWS UPDATE: Celtic solution to left-back problem could already be at the club

Left-back is thought to be the position Celtic are keen to strengthen.
However, Brendan Rodgers has now hinted that an internal solution to the problem could be found.
After the winter break, Celtic are currently in the transfer window and have so far attempted to sign Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna.
This is the only trade Rodgers made in January.
According to Football Scotland, the Irish are said to be looking to sign a left-back and striker before the market closes at the end of this month.
There continue to be links mentioning Liverpool youngster Owen Beck in relation to the club, while Estoril defender Thiago Araujo is a perennial candidate to become Greg Taylor’s competition.
The Hoops appear to be keen on the 24-year-old and have been left out in the cold.
In a surprising statement, Mr.
Rogers hinted that there may be internal means to resolve this pressing issue, which still has 10 days left.
Brendan Rodgers talks about Celtic’s left-back situation In an interview quoted by the Daily Record, Rodgers said that in a “worst case scenario” at Parkhead, Republic international Liam Scales would be on the left side of defence.
He suggested that it may be possible to provide cover.
“My job is to make the team competitive in several areas, and I have to say Greg has been great for me,” Rodgers said.
He then talked about Taylor, saying: “If we don’t provide support, obviously we have to look at the charging issue.
We know that even in the worst case scenario we have Liam Scales who can play over there.
” He explained: “But Greg was great to me.
Like some players, he probably took some time to get used to what we were asking him to do.
But now that we’re all in sync, you can see how much he’s improved defensively, and the football side of his game is very good.

However, Scales has been an integral part of Rodgers’ plans since his unexpected rise to the top team.
In the Scottish Premier League, the 25-year-old played in 20 of 22 league games for the Hoops, scoring one goal.
