Breaking News:Burnley Star Snubs Ipswich Town Transfer for Preferred Move Elsewhere

Burnley centre-back Dara O’Shea has rejected a move to Ipswich Town with a Brentford switch preferred, as per Football Insider.

Burnley are keen to keep their key players despite sliding out of the Premier League, but departures are unavoidable before the window closes on August 30th.

O’Shea, an Irish centre-back, is among several who have attracted interest this summer.

Despite the Clarets’ defensive issues, the former West Brom player was one of their best players last season. As a result, considering his success in the Championship, he may be looking for a new opportunity.

Brentford have been connected with the Burnley star, and it appears they have received a significant boost in their alleged pursuit following an offer from elsewhere. According to Football Insider, Ipswich Town made a bid to persuade O’Shea away from Turf Moor, but the 25-year-old declined. He is instead holding out for a move to Brentford, and talks between the Bees and Burnley are ongoing. O’Shea only joined Lancashire last summer, following a standout career at West Brom.

He signed a four-year contract, but relegation may see him leave the club after only 12 months.

Back to the Premier League?

As previously said, Burnley will seek to retain individuals who can lead them back to the Premier League. O’Shea is undoubtedly one of them, thus high-level interest in his services is unsurprising. After shining with the Baggies, O’Shea made the move up last time around. He has previously demonstrated his ability to be a true leader, therefore his presence in the back would be beneficial to Parker.

However, as he looks to make a move to Brentford, the Clarets may face a tough fight on their hands.

The fact that he turned down Ipswich Town shows he has his sights set on the Bees as well. They’ve become a Premier League regular and are well-known for player development, so it could be a good move for O’Shea if he decides to leave Burnley this summer.

The Clarets’ centre-back options

Burnley’s squad is packed and fat, so whether O’Shea or anyone else leaves the club this summer, they will not be short of players. He will almost probably be a starter for Parker, but there are plenty of other players who may fill in if he leaves or is not deemed available for selection amid the ongoing uncertainty. Ameen Al-Dakhil, Jordan Beyer, Hjalmar Ekdal, Maxime Esteve, Hannes Delcroix, Luke McNally, and CJ Egan-Riley are all alternatives for central defence. It will be interesting to see who becomes Parker’s preferred partnership with such depth at Turf Moor.
