Breaking News: Tottenham Midfielder Poised to Leave Despite Fresh Contract: Report

Tottenham are ready to lose a youthful talent after the club added new faces in the summer window.

Tottenham’s summer transfer window has thus far seen the club concentrate on youth.

This summer, the club bought three 18-year-olds, paying £35 million to Leeds United for Archie Gray, completing Lucas Bergvall’s £8.5 million move from Swedish side Djurgarden, and signing Yang Min-Hyuk from South Korean side Gangwon FC. It is evident that the club is looking ahead with their transfer business this summer, following Ange Postecoglou’s fifth-place finish in his debut season in charge of Tottenham last season.

However, while three brilliant teenagers have already been signed this summer, several of the club’s existing young aspirants may have restricted opportunities.

That appears to be the case for academy graduate Nile John, who is expected to leave the club this summer, according to TeamTalk, as Spurs try to cash in on a homegrown player in the final year of his contract, which was just extended last summer. John made two senior appearances for Spurs in 2021, one as a substitute in the Europa League and one as a starter in the Europa Conference League. He went on loan to Charlton for the second half of the 2021/22 season but did not play, but he is a regular for Tottenham’s U21s.

The addition of Gray and Bergvall pushes him lower down the midfield pecking order, with other homegrown players Alfie Devine, Tyrese Hall, and George Abbott also battling for spots. There is no news of where John may be going, but if Spurs bank a price for the 21-year-old, it will go recorded as pure profit in the club’s records, enhancing their PSR status.
