NEWS UPDATE: Golden State Warriors ineligible to sign potentially perfect buyout option

Ahead of the Feb.
8 trade deadline, speculation is mounting that the Golden State Warriors, who currently sit in 12th place in the Western Conference with a record of 18 wins and 22 losses, will be the favorites to win the championship.
However, as the trade market heats up, potential roster moves in the form of a buyout market could be extended beyond the deadline.
The Warriors currently have 14 players under contract and can sign free agents if needed.
The Golden State Warriors are not eligible to sign top buyout candidates after the trade deadline.
The Warriors could potentially address the buyout market after the trade deadline, but would need to show significant improvement in their front office to further commit to the league’s highest salary.
When it comes to salary, Golden State’s status as a second court team limits the number of players they can sign on the buyout market.
Under the new CBA rules, the Warriors cannot sign any player above the median exception value ($12.
2 million this season).
This would make them ineligible to sign bigger names and players who could make a difference and be acquired.
If the Charlotte Hornets can’t find a trade for the veteran forward by the deadline, Gordon Hayward is currently at the top of that list.

I’m really happy that we were able to connect.
” Moving is more likely than ever.
Many teams are also looking at Hayward as an acquisition opportunity.
” Hayward had a solid season in Charlotte, although his 8-30 record was far from what the team had hoped for.
The 33-year-old averaged 14.
5 points, 4.
7 rebounds and 4.
6 assists in 31.
9 minutes this season, shooting 46.
8 percent from the floor and 36.
1 percent from 3-point range.
Hayward is no longer an All-Star due to injury, but he could be one of the best buyout players available in recent years.
Unfortunately, the Warriors will have to wait and see which other team acquires him if he becomes available.
A deal between Chris Paul and Hayward was already proposed last month, and Hayward could be traded before the February 8 deadline.
