Gopher Duo Named CCM/AHCA All-Americans

With the addition of two All-Americans this season, the Golden Gophers increased their number of honorees for this distinction to 74 in program history. That number includes at least one selection in four of the last five seasons, totaling nine All-Americans in that five-year span. Snuggerud and his father, Dave, became the first father-son duo in program history to earn All-American status after Dave was a second-team selection in 1989.

Rinzel was named the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year thanks to a brilliant sophomore season where he also landed All-B1G First Team honors. The Chanhassen, Minn., native recorded a career-best 10 goals and 32 points in 2024-25 with 13 of those points coming on the power play and added a pair of game-winning goals. He finished the year as the league’s leader in goals and points by a defenseman, aided by eight multi-point performances

Snuggerud picked up All-B1G First Team honors for the second-straight season and was named a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Serving as a captain for the Gophers, the junior led the team in scoring behind career bests of 51 points and 24 goals to go with 27 assists, while tallying 17 games with multiple points. Snuggerud recorded a conference-high 19 goals during league play with seven multi-goal outings and also set a career-long, goal-scoring streak of six games in the month of January.
Both skaters made their National Hockey League debuts last week and have already secured their first professional points.
