Manager Aaron Boone initially considered bringing Cruz back Monday, but the team opted to wait following his fourth rehab outing Friday, when he threw 1.1 innings.

Cruz had been one of the Yankees’ most dependable arms before landing on the IL for the second time this season. In 33 innings, the 35-year-old struck out 54 batters while posting a 3.00 ERA in primarily high-leverage situations.
